Kenyan youngster Ayaan Mushila feels motivated by his impressive performance at the recently concluded World Cadet Chess Championships in Montesilvano, Italy.

The Mash Park chess club player was among the 27-member Kenyan contingent that overcame visa hitch to honour the tournament.

Despite missing the first five games due to the visa delays, the players demonstrated remarkable resilience, competing in the remaining six rounds and performing admirably. Ayaan finished fourth while his sister Ayra Mushila stood out as the sole Under-8 girl representative from Kenya.

"Chess is not just a game for me; it's a journey of strategy and discipline. Representing Kenya on the international stage inspires me to aim higher and share this passion with others," said Ayaan.

Following their performance in Italy, Arya believes they have what it takes to rule the game both on the local and international scene. "Being the youngest girl representing Kenya at this level is a big honour for me. I hope to inspire other children, especially girls, to take up chess and dream big-it's a game that teaches you to think ahead in life," said Ayra.
