Bandari take top honours in Mombasa junior gala at Aga Khan Academy

Bandari Swimming Club maintained their supremacy in swimming after they dominated the Mombasa junior gala at Aga Khan Academy.

The champions bagged 143 medals in total, which had 45 gold, 61 silver and 37 bronze.

Mombasa Aquatics were second with 44 gold, 30 silver and 19 bronze for a total of 93 medals.

The third slot was claimed by Blue Ocean, who had 83 points that included 37 gold, 19 silver and 27 bronze medals.

In the individual performances, Harith Muses of Mombasa Aquatics Swimming Club took top honours after he swam his way to the top of the podium. The 11-year-old Muses won three gold medals, before leading his club to win another gold in relays.

Muses started the medal haul after clocking 3.05.14 to win the boys' 11 years and under 200m Individual Medley (IM), beating Bandari's Luca Trento to the second position.

Trento touched the wall in a time of 3.18.27. Alaqmar Hamid of Blue Ocean Club was third in 3.42.03.In 100m backstroke for boys 11 years and under category, Muses timed 1.29.34 pushing Abubakar Omar of Bandari swim club to the second slot with a time of 1.41.56.

Muses added his third gold medal in 50m breastroke.
