Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) National football girls' bronze medalists Madira Girls High School had a bright start to the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSSA) after winning their first match on Saturday.

Madira Girls hammered hosts GS Gatizo of Rwanda 3-1 to move top of Group A alongside Kawempe Muslim from Uganda.

Kawempe Muslim thrashed national champions Butere Girls High School 3-1.

The group which also has Ziba Secondary School from Tanzania and St Noah Girls from Uganda will be interesting to watch considering the quality.

In netball, newly crowned national champion Oyugi Ogango from Homa Bay County kicked off their East Africa gold medal hunt with a close 44-39 win over Rutozo Secondary School from Tanzania.

Rift Valley champions and national runners-up Andersen on the other hand were hammered 87-16 by St Noa Girls from Uganda.

The four teams are in Group A alongside Uganda's Kawanda Secondary School.
