St Anthony’s Boys Kitale will face off with Menengai High School in quarterfinals of the Rift Valley Region secondary school football contest, after finishing top of Group B.

The Trans Nzoia County champions saw off Christ the King 1-0 on Wednesday, before humbling Ololunga 2-0 yesterday to book a spot in the last four.

Nakuru County champions Menengai High School, on the other hand, were saved by the rules and regulations of the game after qualifying for the quarters from Group D without a point.

This is after Marakwet Boys, who topped the pool, were banned by the Rift Valley Secondary Schools Sports Association for fielding ineligible players during their 5-1 win over Kaplong Boys.

In a group which consisted only three teams, Marakwet’s ouster left Kpalong Boys and Menengai with an easy passage to the last eight. Kaplong finished top after their 1-0 win over Menengai.

Kabarnet will square it out with Olmoran in the other quarter as Mwiruti entertain Chemsse.

The last quarter will feature Christ the King taking on Kaplong Boys.
