It was a tough match before Tanqueray squeezed a 4-3 win over Diani Reef to win the Horseman Cup at Nairobi Polo Club.

The team of Jilian Camm, Phillip Arunga, Omwakwe Arunga and Kailla Millar proved that it was the team to beat in the three-day tournament by snatching away the superior event in the chase for top honours.

At the end of it, it was Camm (Jilian) who did the damage after she scored a hatrick in the first (one) and second (two) chukkas before Omwakwe pushed in one.

The three goals by Kimoi and Somaia came with the support of international Izzy Voorspuy and Simon Muchene.

And Zuri Hotels Resort secured a 9-2.5 over Samurai to finish the senior event on a high.

Earlier in the same tournament in a match officiated by international umpire Raph Nzomo and Harry Griffiths, SBM Bank thrashed Tusker Malt 7-4.5 in a one sided match.

And in the round robin series of the Welby Trophy, Team 24.7 emerged the winners after winning all their three matches in the four team competition.

In their last match. 24.7 drew 6-6 against BM Security.

"We played so well as a team. This is my best tournament yet. The horses were amazing and field was playing well. Scoring nine goals on a weekend is an excellent performance," said Mike Mwirigi of Team 24.7 whose other teammates included Izzy Voorspuy, Kelvin Jumba and Josephine Gauld.

In other match, Primirosa team of Geoff Morley, Silke Hampson, Bobby Kamani and Archie Camm lost 3-2 against Mamba Polo who were earlier tipped to win the tournament after a positive start.
