Bayer secured a 7-5.5 victory over Thunder to clinch the 2023 Kinsman Cup in the two-team championships at Northern Kenya Polo Club in Timau, on Sunday.

Both teams fielded their experienced players, all in search of the bragging rights.

Although Thunder started the match at the advantage of half fraction of a goal from their low handicap, they could not match the prowess of the Bayer team of top player including Casimir Gross, Joss Craig, Tarquin Gross and Harry Griffiths, who were in their best form.

All the seven goals were spread between the four players.

On their part, Thunder had Craig Millar, Archie and Izzy Voorspuy and Geoff Morley.

Huskies won the Kyambu Cup in the three-match tournament after overcoming Thunder and Cossack in their two matches.

Interestingly, players were switching camps in all the three divisions of the tournament.

In the Marania Cup, which was the junior tournament, Casimir, who played in both the senior and junior events, also led Tihan to win it against Vellum Prime team of Eva Kamau, Jamie Murray, Tom Manson and Josephine Gauld.

In their penultimate match, Tihan beat Vellum Prime to a 2-1.

"It was a tough one today (yesterday), let's see how subsequent matches go," said Kamau after the penultimate match.
