Nyanchwa Boys, Nduru Boys dominate Kisii County games

Nyanchwa Boys thrashed Nyanturago 110-20 to qualify for the quarterfinals of Kisii County basketball games.

Both teams qualified for the quarterfinals after Etago Sub-County failed to field a team.

Speaking after the win, Nyanchwa coach Kepher Mogire said they have turned their attention to the knockout stages.

"It was an easy game for us. We have been preparing for the counties for months and I am glad the boys are executing everything as per our plan," said Mogire.

Kisii School, enjoying the support of home fans also thumped Nyamagwa Boys 94-11 in another game. In the girl's category, Suneka Girls beat Itibo Girls 24-02.

"We want to win all our group matches so that we avoid meeting Nyanchwa in the semis. We want to meet them in the finals," said Kisii coach Gilbert Okumu.

In hockey, Amaiko begun their title defense with a comfortable 2-0 win Nyangoge. Janet Safari and Brenda Akinyi scored for Amaiko.

In the boy's category, defending champions Nduru Boys were held to a barren draw by Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho while Nyabigena Boys upset host Kisii School 1-

In rugby 15's holders Nduru Boys hammered Kerongorori 75-0 as Igonga beat Nyabisase 25-5 while hosts Kisii School beat Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho 28-0. Rioma also defeated Nyamagwa Boys 7-5.

"We are under pressure to retain our title. Last year, we were at nationals and this time, we are also targeting to nationals. We have had good preparations," said Nduru coach Chrispine Omollo.

In handball boys, Ndonyo started their campaign with a 28-18 win over Boraracho while in the girl's category, Ndonyo saw off Sameta Mixed 33-12.
