Otters swim their way to victory at Nairobi championships

Otters swimming club triumphed during the Nairobi sprints and relays swimming gala at Makini School.
The club won both men and female categories to clinch the overall trophy.
In the men's category, Otters had the lion's share after dominating in most of the races. They had 27 medals that included 14 gold, seven silver and six bronze.
Dashing Dolphins Swimming Club were second with 27 medals, same as Otters, but had less gold medals.
They had 12 gold, seven silver and eight bronze. Cavina School were third with a paltry five medals that had four gold and one bronze.
Adventures Talents, Life Swimming Club, Nairobi Teens, Nextgen Multi-Sports Academy and Tidal Wavws Swim Club had one gold each.
USIU Dolphines Swim Club, Makini School, Fithub Aquatic, Brookhouse International School and Wadi Degla Swimming Club did not win any gold medal.
In the women's division, Otters Swim Club scooped the top spot with 30 medals, which included 17 gold, eight silver and five bronze.
Nairobi Teens Swimming Club were second with 11 medals in total that included five gold, four silver and two bronze, while Cavina School were third after amassing five gold, three silver and the same number of bronze. They had 11 medals in total.
Lifetime Swim Club had five medals that included for gold and one silver medal. Brokehouse School had five medals (four gold and one silver), while Loreto Convent Valley Road picked 15 medals to their credit that included two gold, nine silver and four bronze.
Other clubs in the competition were Dashing Dolphins, USIU Dolphines, Fithub Aquatic, Seahorses Aquatic, Wadi Degla and Makini School.
In the individual category, Omar Ibrahim of USIU set a new meet record in men's 16 years and over 50m breaststroke after he clocked 33.84 to erase the previous record of 34.00.
In boys' 10/11 years 50m fly, Baraka Kayugira of Tidal Swimming Club emerged victorious with a time of 44.87.
In the women's category, Amani Njau of Seahorses Swimming Club missed the meet record in 12/13 years 50m back after she returned 40.50 against the 40.08 record.
