Kenyan Olympiad Jully Mutisya maintained the lead in women's under 1700 category with maximum four points as the Africa Chess Championships entered day four yesterday, at the Mombasa Continental Resort.

Mutisya kept her dream of winning the women title alive after she defeated second seed and second placed Safinah Mugide of Uganda and compatriot Abigail Obonyo in rounds three and four respectively.

Kenya's 12-year-old Yvonne Mwashe completed a surprise win over compatriot and reigning Kenya girls' Under 20 champion Mercy Ingado in a round four action. [Ernest Ndunda]
