They say the best day at the range is an incident free day. This was the scenario over the weekend at the IDPA Chairman's Cup.

Living up to its expectations, NGAO-Kenya's two-day adrenaline packed shooting event came to a close on Saturday at the Kirigiti shooting range.

The annual event saw 119 members of the disciplined forces and civilian shooters battle it out for top honours in various categories.

A total of eight master shooters took part in the contest with Daniel Mutiso of Kenya Prisons showing why he's the king in Stock Service Pistol (SSP) Division High, where he emerged tops.

Other Division High winners were - Enhanced Service Pistol (ESP) - Master Eric Wachira, Compact Carry Pistol (CCP)- Master Mahir Omar, Carry Optics (CO )- Peter Njoroge and in Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC), Adan Barrow carried the day.

During the event, NGAO-K chairman Martin Chengo revealed that the association has now been fully recognised as a federation and will be able to tap into the sports fund. This, he said, will enable the growth of shooting sports in the country.

"We finally registered NGAO-Kenya as a federation, going forward, we will be able to tap into the sports fund. This is a big advantage for sports shooters in this country. We are grateful to the government for coming through for the sport, through the NGAO-K patron Anthony Muchiri," said Chengo, adding that the association will be called NGAO-Kenya sports shooting federation.

Chengo's sentiments were echoed by NGAO-K patron Muchiri, who believes that the recognition is going to attract more people into the sport.
