Kenya Institute of Bankers Interbank Sports: Victories for AFC, Equity as games officially opened

Women's netball defending champions Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) demolished NCBA Bank 32-2 at the ongoing Kenya Institute of Bankers Interbank Sports that were officially opened yesterday in Nairobi.

The netball matches held at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies also saw last season runners up Equity Bank beat Post Bank 17-11 as KCB Bank edged Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) 13-10.

"We are here to retain the cup," AFC goal shooter Florence Akinyi declared.

In football, Patrick Baraza netted a brace in the 46th and 52nd minutes as CBK cruised over DT Dobie with a 3-0 victory.

Stephen Owino was the first to open the scoresheet for the victors in the 30th minute.

In men's volleyball, CBK stunned Post Bank in straight sets of 2-0.

The National Bank of Kenya (NBK) also met the same wrath on the Housing Finance Corporation.

Co-Op Bank also won 2-0 against NCBA same as University of Nairobi Business School who beat Bank of Africa (BOA) by a similar margin.

In basketball, Equity beat NBK 47-24 as KCB thrashed State Bank of Mauritius (SMB) 32-5.

In other men's basketball results, NCBA overcame Victoria Commercial Bank 42-29 while I&M Bank got a walk over against Post Bank.

In the women's basketball, KCB Bank picked a walkover against BOA who failed to show up, I&M Bank won 40-13 against CBK, NCBA edged Post Bank 15-10 while Equity beat Absa 48-15. [Ochieng Oyugi]
