Mombasa team is upbeat and ready to outclass their Nairobi opponents during the International Defensive Pistol Association (IPSC) Tier3 shooting championships at Bamburi Rifle Club, Mombasa.

The championships is set to run from September 29 to October 2.

Bamburi Rifle Club chairman Abdulhakim Daud said the Mombasa team will be led by Master Ibrahim Ndung'u in the male category and Marycharlene Ndwiga in the ladies' category.

Ndung'u, who is the reigning International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) league champion, will battle it out with several experienced shooters from National Gun Owners Association (Ngao-Kenya), Limuru and disciplined forces among others.

"All the arrangements have been completed and we thank Standard Group PLC among other sponsors for partnering with us to ensure the event that is taking place for the first time ever in Mombasa succeeded," said Hakim.

Standard Group PLC Chief Executive Officer Orlando Lyomu said the group has been in the forefront in supporting shooting activities in the country.

"We appreciate being part of the championship and glad to support the event as we look forward to continuing collaborating with Bamburi Rifle Club in future events," said Lyomu.

Hakim said Mombasa successfully staged the IDPA Tier1 last year and was looking forward to hosting the Tier3 championships where a galaxy of Kenya's sharpshooters and upcoming athletes will be in action.

Other experienced shooters from Mombasa are Mahamed Ramadhan, Muzahim Taib, Daud, Samier Muravvej, Abdullahi Buthul, Soi Kilonzo, Issa Issa, Elias Kavwagi and Omar Moosa.
