Ndungu is the last man standing in shooting contest

Ibrahim Ndungu claimed the pole position of the Kenya Open Level-3 Handgun and PCC Championships in style.
He had a personal best hit factor of 8.05 and 6.6 on Bays 1 and 3 respectively for a cumulative score of 1270 match-points.
Representing coast-based Bamburi Shooting Club, Ndungu cemented his title run after posting impressive successive hit factors which his competitors in the mid-morning shoot couldn’t match.
In the Ladies' category, Kenya One Agnes Muchiri had a great run in her morning session with a total of 977 match-points. Oozing confidence with opening shots, she registered a hit factor of 5.23 on Bay 1 and 4 -flat on the 13th Bay.
Emerging as the best foreigner shooter in Production class was Spaniard Gerald Edo, who exploded with a 720 match-points score. Sunny Syong of Kenya Regiment Rifle Club fired 1235 match points to triumph in Open Division.
Ndungu savoured an early morning run with a cumulative total of 1270 match-points. He posted his best hit factor of 8.05 on Bay 1 Bay 3 hit factor 6.6.
He was using the event as a rehearsal for the upcoming IPDU Championship in Italy.
“Today's weather was good, at least better than yesterday, so we are doing our best. The remaining stages are short and you can easily run at a risk of losing points. We are trying to remain focused and precise,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Sports Shooting Federation (KSSF) in conjunction with oil company Rubis, donated sanitary pads to Uaso Girls School as part of a long-term corporate social responsibility campaign in support of the Samburu girl-child.
Rubis Chief External Affairs Officer Charles Thuo said as a corporate, they believe in participating and supporting communities that they engage in.
“I’m sure this partnership that we have started is the first of many that will see us engaging through the sport of shooting," he said.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, who presided over the closing ceremony, called on Kenyan shooting organisers to organise more international events.
“The commitment shown by everyone in making this event a success was huge. I am glad the international body (IPSC) has expressed interest in hosting events in Kenya. We hope Kenya will be hosting more international events and make this range a shooting hub in Africa,” she said.
Amina congratulated all participants for making the event a delight to watch.
“I would like to appreciate all winners and losers in true spirits of sportsmanship,” she said. "This was a success in all areas. Keep up with the good work."
