Braeburn splash their way to victory in Nairobi gala

Braeburn School and Hydra swimming and Sports Club won in boys and girls categories respectively during the national age group swimming championships at Makini School, Nairobi.
Braeburn defeated 21 institutions to win the overall title with 47 medals that included 21 gold, 14 silver and 12 bronze. Seahorses Aquatics Swimming Club were second with 12 medals; 10 gold, one silver and one bronze.
Hosts Makini School were third after collecting 24 medals that included eight gold, nine silver and seven bronze. Bellevue Raptors finished fourth after winning 16 medals (eight gold, four silver and four bronze).
Otters Swimming Club bagged seven gold, two silver and two bronze for a total of 11, while Hydra Swim and Sports Club were sixth with 20 medals (six gold, 10 silver and four bronze medals).
In the girls’ category, Hydra Swim and Sports Club emerged victorious after defeating 19 clubs. They had 36 medals, which included 17 gold 10 silver and 11 bronze, while Braeburn bagged 16 gold, 13 silver and seven bronze for a total of 36 medals.
Bellevue Raptors claimed the third spot with 29 medals that included 10 gold, 13 silver and six bronze as Lifetime Swimming Club bagged 11 medals that included 10 gold, and a silver medal.
Seahorses Aquatic had nine gold, one silver and a bronze for a total of 11 medals. The sixth position went to USIU-A Dolphines, who had 14 medals that included six gold, four silver and the same number of bronze.
In the individual performances, Macrine Kalombo of Lifetime Club clocked 36.67 to win the girls’ 12/13 years 50m backstroke. Tshomela Muriuki of Brookhouse timed 39.81.
