Swimming: Braeburn School call shots at Level Three gala

Braeburn School remained unbeaten in their victory at the national Level Three swimming championships at Makini School, Nairobi.
The school dominated both boys and girls' races in the two-day championship that was used by swimmers to prepare for the Africa CANA Zone Three championships set for next month in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.
In the men's category, Braeburn International Schools bagged 47 medals included 22 gold, nine silver and 16 bronze. Bellevue Raptors were second with 13 medals (nine gold, two silver and two bronze) as Seahorses Aquatics Centre settled for the third slot with 13 medals; seven gold, two silver and six bronze.
In the women's category, Braeburn International Schools were unstoppable after they outsmarted their opponents to win with 27 medals that included 17 gold, six silver and four bronze.
Peponi schools had seven gold, six silver and four bronze for a total of 17 medals as Brookehouse Schools settled for the third position with nine medals that included four gold, three silvers and two bronze.
Kenyatta University dominated the boys' 17 years and over 100m breaststroke category after grabbing the top three slots. Emmanuel Kibadengi won in a time of 1.28.88 with Rodgers Tobiko and Moses Waweru posting a time of 1.30.18 and 1.32.56 respectively
Kwamboka Masese of Braeburn won the girls' 10/14 years 400m freestyle with a time of 5.56.56.
Randall Gituku of Braeburn clocked 1.26.82 to win the boys' 15/16 years 100m breastroke as Shriya Manek from Barracuda Aquatic Club won the girls' 15/16 years 100m breaststroke with a time of 1.40.57.
In girls' 15/16 years 100m butterfly, Yael Hailey of Nairobi Teens Swim Club emerged victorious with 1.29.67, while Nick Waziri of Braeburn was the winner in boys' 15/16 years 100m butterfly after returning 1.31.68. [Ernest Ndunda]
In girls' 10/14 years 800m freestyle, Kayla Didi from Nairobi Teens Club clocked 14.16.82 for the win. In boys' 10/14 years 800m freestyle, Palash Karia of Otters Swim Club emerged victorious with a time of 12.01.53.
Meanwhile, the invitational age group swimming championships long course is set for November 12-13 at Kasarani. Teams are expected to register before November 6. [Ernest Ndunda]
