Kenya's three teams will face South Africa in the 10-Goal Kenya International Championships that begins today at Nairobi Polo Club.

The three teams are Kenya CMC Motors, Kenya Samurai and Kenya Tusker Malt. They will play South Africa Tusker Malt in round-robin matches that will end on Sunday.

Handicap 3.5 Archie Voorspuy (Kenya CMC Motors), handicap 4.5 Jammie Murray (Kenya Samurai) and handicap 5 Casimir Gross (Kenya Tusker Malt) are the three highly handicapped local players captaining their sides in the tournament.

The late arrival of handicap 1 Adrian Lavarinhas assured South Africa of a full team of handicap 4 that also has captain Chris Lund, handicap 3 William Crowe and handicap 1 Luke Bernard.

Lavarinhas, who arrived on Monday, was the last South Africa team member to jet in.

The first trio arrived last week allowing them put the Kenyan horses to test during the 6-Goal Kenya International Championships that was won by TML team of Kenya internationals Casimir Gross (5), Aisha Gross (1), Georgina Millar (0) and Ed Burbidge (0).

Kenya Polo Association vice chairman Raphael Nzomo said it was a unique moment to have a full South African team taking part in a unique high level tournament.

The first match today will see Kenya CMC Motors playing Kenya Tusker Malt at 2:45pm, before Kenya Tusker Malt face-off with South Africa Tusker Malt at 4pm.

Tomorrow, Kenya Tusker Malt will take on Kenya Tusker Malt ahead of the second match that pits Kenya Samurai against South Africa Tusker Malt tomorrow at 4pm.

The final matches in the round-robin series on Sunday will see Kenya Samurai playing Kenya Tusker Malt before Kenya CMC Motors meet South Africa Tusker Malt at 12pm.
