Kenya Police Football Club are not giving up just yet on their dreams of winning the title as the race for the 2022-2023 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League gong enters the final stretch in the coming weeks.

Police who are fifth with 49 points are 13 points away from leaders Gor Mahia who have played a game more as title contenders start separating themselves from the rest of the teams.

As the majority of the teams have played 28 matches, Police alongside Mathare United, Sofapaka and Bandari have a game to play.

Speaking to the Standard Sports, Police CEO Chris Oguso believes their poor start to the campaign derailed their momentum.

"We had a bad start to the season where we lost our first two matches. We then made early changes to the bench after those losses and brought on board Francis Barasa who immediately did a fantastic job by winning five consecutive matches.

"Our objective was to try a stab at winning the title but the boys dropped crucial points against Wazito, AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia, and Tusker. The team is, however, doing well now after picking crucial points away to Bandari, and most recently against Bidco United.

"We have seven remaining matches which are a must-win versus Sofapaka, Talanta, Mathare United, Vihiga Bullets, Ulinzi Stars, Posta Rangers, and KCB. If the lads are able to grab all those points, and something happens to our opponents Gor, Tusker, Nzoia, and KCB, the title is still open and we are fighting towards that," said Oguso.

The law enforcers have so far won 14 matches, drawn seven and lost six.

Police also boast of the second top scorer in the league Elvis Rupia.

The former AFC Leopards goal poacher has scored 21 goals, four behind top scorer Benson Omalla.
