Leading gaming firm SportPesa has launched a grassroots campaign dubbed 'Tujiamini' that focuses on elevating sports to the next level.

The Tujiamini (let's believe in ourselves) Initiative aims to identify, develop, support and reward promising sports teams, individuals and talent across the country.

While unveiling the new journey in Nairobi on Thursday night, SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri was optimistic that many lives will be impacted by their resolve.

"This is a countrywide road map meant to reward deserving sportsmen and women of this nation. The rewards will be in four categories; Gold (Sh500,000), Silver (Sh100,000), Bronze (Sh10,000) and Cheza Dimba for the best grassroots football teams (Sh250,000).

"We hope that whatever we are starting today, hopefully will have a great positive impact on the Kenyan youths," Karauri told Standard Sports.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba who graced the event termed the launched enterprise a great milestone that will help young sportsmen and women in Kenya to monetize their talents.

"This is a revolutionary journey, and the fact that it is focused to tap talent at the grassroots is quite in line with the Government's Talanta Hela project," Namwamba said.

"The Ministry of Sports and the Government are delighted to be part of this cause and therefore we are giving SportPesa an assurance that we will back it up," Namwamba added.

While hailing the new journey that has been started by the leading gaming firm, former Shujaa captain Andrew Amonde predicted that Tujiamini will give the country an opportunity to select competent athletes who will be great forces to reckon with on the international arena.

SportPesa Public Relations and Advertising Manager Marketing Willis Ojwang termed their new cause a bold step toward the right direction which they are braving on to revolutionise the local sport scene.
