Makini School swimmers dominate meet

Makini School athletes dominated the Africa Swimming Academy Development Age Group Championships winning most individual titles at Aga Khan High.

Neema Kariuki started it off when she accumulated 32 points to emerge overall winner in girls’ under-seven age group.

Aronni Ogadhhoh of Brookhouse School finished second on 25 points followed by Turi Wawira of Makini in third place on 16.50 points.

Makini was in picture again after Maina Njoroge bagged 33 points to lead the pack in boys’ under-seven. Evans Kanja of Strathmore finished second on 24 points and Karanja Njoroge of Makini third on 23.

Ahura Ambala of African Swimming Academy successfully checked Makini’s dominance after she clinched girls’ 8-9 age category winner’s trophy on 26 points.

Makini’s pair of Faith Kariuki (17 points) and Sharon Kang’ethe (14) finished in silver and bronze position.

Makini atoned for the failure in boys’ category after Manuel Karanja won the overall title with 35 points. Strathmore swimmers occupied the next three positions led by Joseph Ngala (20 points), Bryan Karanja (19) and Anthony Mathenge (14).

Loreto Convent Valley Road were not ready to be left behind and Mumbi Gichovi did her school proud after she claimed the girls’ 11-12 overall title on 35 points.

Makini were not left too far as Joy Njoki finished in second position on 25 points followed by Kemunto Ongera of Hydra Swim Academy on 19 points.
