Kenya Cup: Kabras Sugar beat KCB in Kakamega to finish top

Kabras Sugar finished top of the 2024-2025 Kenya Cup after securing a fifth consecutive victory over KCB Rugby, triumphing 25-17 at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday.
This win extends their remarkable unbeaten streak to 39 matches in Kenya Cup and have now topped the league standings for six consecutive years, picking 52 points against KCB's 50.
In the match, Kevin Wekesa scored an early try that was converted by Ntabeni Dukisa for a 7-0 lead despite early showers that prolonged kick off.
KCB responded swiftly, capitalising on a miscommunication in Kabras defense to score through Austin Sikutwa who converted his own try to level the score at 7-7.
Kabras regained the lead with a penalty from Dukisa, making it 10-7. KCB hit back with a patient buildup, culminating in a try from Griffin Musila, which gave them a 12-10 advantage. Sikutwa's conversion extended KCB's lead to 14-10.

The Sugarmen narrowed the gap with another penalty from Dukisa (14-13), before adding another to edge ahead 16-14. KCB responded with a penalty from Sikutwa to reclaim the lead at 17-16.
Kabras took a narrow 19-17 advantage into the break, with Dukisa converting a final penalty just before halftime.
In the final half, Dukisa kicked in three penalties for the win.
Kabras will now host the Kenya cup final after finishing top of the table with 52 points.
The bankers follow with 50 points as Oilers finish third.
