Kimondo schemes his way to victory

A calculated approach to the round of 18 saw Kimondo Mbuthia return to the Nyeri Clubhouse as the overall winner of the Mukurweini Rising golf tournament at 3-under-69 over the weekend.

Kimondo ruled the day after inking 34 nett and 35 nett for a final round score of 69 nett, playing off handicap 27.

The meet was presented by golfers from the Mukurweini constituency.

The men's winner prize was won by Joe Wachiuri, playing off handicap 13 after carding 71 (35+36) nett.

"I'm excited for this win. Having carded the best nett score to prevail over such a strong field of seasoned golfers, it gives me so much joy," Kimondo said.

Taking the Men winner second prize was Gaitho Nyokabi who brought back 72 nett. While handicap four, Paul Kagwamba came in third with 73 nett.

Leading in the ladies' section was Ruth Karuga on a better countback score of 75 (41+34) nett compared to Lady winner second prize winner Ferister Gaitho, who posted 75 (34+41) nett.

Taking the First nine was Anko George Wakaba, playing off handicap 10 with 34 nett, while the Second nine was won by James Muriithi, playing off handicap six, also on 34 nett.

Nanyuki Sports Clubs' James Warui was the Guest winner after returning 70 (34+36) nett, while his club-mate, Maulid Ramadhan, bagged the Guest winner second on 34+37) 71 nett.

Abel Wambugu was the best golfer in Division Two with 87 nett, as Faith Wangai finished second with 88 nett.

Junior winner prize was won by, Tugi Kigwa, playing off handicap 28 on a score of 71 (37+34) nett.

In the Sponsors category, handicap 10 Dan Kagwe carded an identical score of 39 nett from both nines for a final score of 78 nett to edged out Milka Karimi with a better countback score.

Claiming the Longest Drive Men prize was tournament convenor Father Felix Kibicho as Rebecca Njui won the Longest Drive Lady winner prize.

The nearest to Pin Men prize was won by Kimani Kungu. The best Effort prize went to Nancy Wambaire who managed 91 nett off handicap 25.
