As defending champions Gor Mahia prepares for their upcoming FKF Premier League match against FC Talanta this Sunday, all eyes are on the league's current top scorer, Benson Omalla, who has found the back of the net nine times in 14 matches.

Gor Mahia, sitting atop the FKF Premier League standings with 28 points, remains the only undefeated team in the league. However, a recent stumble in their last outing-a 2-2 draw against Nzoia Sugar-has shown that they are not invincible.

The draw against Nzoia Sugar was a wake-up call for Gor Mahia. Despite their strong defensive record, with just seven goals conceded, they will be eager to tighten up at the back and return to winning ways. Their attacking prowess, led by Omalla, has been formidable, and they'll be looking to exploit FC Talanta's defense, which has conceded 22 goals this season.

"My main job at Gor is to score goals. I want to continue scoring goals and I hope I will help the team win against Talanta.

"My target this season is to surpass last season feat of 26 goals. My team trust me infront of goal and that is why they play with me very well.

"This week I have been working on my timing and finishing touches this week," said Omalla.

Gor Mahia's unbeaten run has been the talk of the league, but the pressure is mounting as Kakamega Homeboyz and KCB FC are hot on their heels, both with 27 points. A win against FC Talanta is crucial for Gor Mahia to maintain their slender lead at the top. With Homeboyz and KCB also showing strong forms, the title race is shaping up to be a nail-biter.

FC Talanta, currently sitting in the ninth spot with 20 points, shouldn't be underestimated. They have shown they can be a thorn in the side of the top teams, and Gor Mahia will need to be cautious. The matchup is expected to be a showcase of tactical prowess, with Gor Mahia likely to press high and use their offensive strength to break down Talanta's defenses.

"We started the match against Nzoia very slow but the fighting spirit in the team is amazing. We want to play better against Talanta. Taking it a game at a time, we also want to maintain our unbeaten streak as we work towards the bigger goal of retaining the league," said Gor captain Philemon Otieno.

As matchday approaches, Gor Mahia fans will be expecting nothing less than a victory to keep their championship aspirations on track.

A win will not only cement their position at the top but also send a strong message to their title rivals that Gor Mahia is here to stay. With the combination of Omalla's striking skills and the team's overall consistency, it's set to be an enthralling encounter.
