Joy and pain mark end of Kilifi and Taita Taveta ties

New champions were born after defending champions failed to sail through in the Taita Taveta and Kilifi secondary schools Term Two games that ended on Saturday.
The major culprits were the 2016 East Africa and national girls' football champions St John's Kaloleni, who had not surrendered the Kilifi County title since 2013.
This time round, schools proved they had prepared adequately for the champions. vMkongani Girls made sure St John's would not make it to the final as they were crowned new champions.vMkongani conquered Mwangea Secondary School 2-0 in the final.
Mwangea have another chance of revenging the defeat as both teams will travel to Voi Secondary School next week for the Coast region games.
In boys' football, former champions Katana Ngala fell on the way as they paved way for Vitengeni Baptist, who were crowned new champions after squeezing a narrow 1-0 win over Malindi High School.
In rugby Sevens, Malindi High School relinquished the title to newbies Garashi, who together with the runner-up Lutsangani Secondary School, advanced for the regional games.
In both boys and girls' volleyball, Vitengeni Baptist and Vyambani retained their titles.
Vitengeni and Ramada will represent the county in boys volleyball, while Vyambani and Changombe will be the girls' representatives.
Kizurini also retained the netball title they won last year.
In Taita Taveta County, Dr Aggrey won the boys' football title after upsetting former champions Kenyatta Mwatate.
The newly crowned champions are yet to lose a match in the championships.
In the final match, Dr Aggrey stunned Kenyatta Mwatate 3-1.
As the host county for the regional games, both teams qualified for the Coast region games, where Dr Aggrey are in pool B alongside Changamwe of Mombasa, Kilifi's Vitengeni Baptist and Tana River representatives.
Pool A has champions Serani of Mombasa, Kenyatta Mwatate, Lamu and Kwale representatives.
