Kenya Sevens fall to New Zealand in Hong Kong Sevens opener

Shujaa began their Hong Kong Sevens campaign on the back foot after a 29-5 defeat to World Rugby Sevens Series leaders New Zealand in their Group D opener on Friday.
The New Zealanders dominated the opening exchanges, landing three tries through Leroy Carter, Dylan Collier and Akulia Rokolisoa with Ngarohi McGarvey-Black and Rokolisoa adding conversions for a 19-0 lead.
Shujaa captain Nelson Oyoo went over the whitewash to make it 19-5 at the stroke of half time.
In the final half, Shujaa were unable to make use of their second half possession as they twice kicked away possession.
Cody Vai and Rokolisoa landed two late tries to seal the leaders 29-5 win.
In the pool second match, South Africa narrowly defeated Ireland 7-0.
New Zealand are top of Group D with three points same as South Africa who are second by virtue of less points difference.
Shujaa will play Ireland at 6.28am on Saturday morning.
