Ten-man Wazito are one-win away from avoiding relegation to the National Super League after edging out Muranga'a Seal 2-1 in the rescheduled Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League promotion and relegation playoffs played on Thursday at Thika Stadium in Kiambu County.

Wazito who are seeking to preserve their top flight status scored through Tyson Otieno and Curtis Wekesa and will take a narrow one goal advantage ahead of the second leg scheduled to be played at St Sebastien Park in Murang'a on Sunday.

The black and yellow finished the game with one-man less after goal scorer Otieno turned from hero to villain when a second booking in stoppage time saw him sent to the dressing room early.

Seal failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage deep into stoppage time where they missed a penalty which would have set thrilling second leg.

Wazito goalkeeper Zamu Adisa emerged the hero of the game with the last-minute penalty save that now hands the Fred Ambani-coached side an advantage on Sunday.

The playoffs were originally set to be played last week on Saturday but were rescheduled after National Super League (NSL) side Muhoroni Youth went to the Sports Dispute Tribunal to file a case forcing the playoffs to be put off.

However, on Tuesday, the tribunal allowed the matches to continue, pending the verdict of the case.

Wazito needs only a draw of any sort to be assured of topflight football come the 202-2023 season.
