The Kenya national women's handball team will now play in the President Cup on Monday after being knocked out at the group stage of the ongoing Africa Women’s Handball Championship in Cameroon.

Kenya finished last in Group 'B' behind hosts Cameroon, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after failing to win any of their three group stage matches.

In the opening match, Kenya lost 40-26 before being blown out in a 42-16 defeat to DRC.

The Kenyan queens would then crash out against stubborn Nigeria after narrowly losing 26-21.

After the losses, Kenya dropped to the President Cup which kicks off Monday while the top two teams in each group proceed to the quarterfinals.

The President Cup will act as ranking for teams that failed to qualify for quarterfinals in the continental championships that attracted three groups.

In the quarters, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, DRC, Angola and Congo are some of the teams that will face off against each other.

In the President Cup, Kenya will battle it out against Guinea, Cape Verde, Nigeria and Madagascar.
