Romelu Lukaku has given his honest verdict on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after being axed from Manchester United.

The 27-year-old left the Red Devils to sign for Inter Milan in the summer of 2019.

With Solskjaer set to start the new season with Marcus Rashford as his main striker, it would have left the Belgian on the sidelines.

Lukaku had struggled for form with the Norweigan at the helm, scoring just six Premier League goals under his stewardship.

Antonio Conte, who tried to sign him as Chelsea manager, made a personal plea to the forward and he joined Inter for £75m.

Since then, he has revitalised his career - scoring goals for fun in Serie A.

While conducting a Twitter Q&A, Lukaku was asked what his true thoughts on Solskjaer are.

He replied: "He is doing great. You guys have to know I love him as a manager and as a person and I wish him nothing but the best."

On Rashford, he added: "He is improving all the time! I love to see him play. One of the most talented played with for sure."

Lukaku was in impressive form as Inter won the Milan derby at the weekend, scoring in a 3-0 win.

It has seen Conte's men go four points clear at the top of the league ahead of AC Milan.

Cristiano Ronaldo is leading the goalscoring charts by 18, while Lukaku has 17 - with former pal and now-rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic trailing behind on 14.

With Juventus stuttering in their title bid, this is shaping up to be one of the most exciting Scudetto battles in years.

The two Milanese clubs are tussling at the top but the Old Lady are not far behind and have a game in hand.

And just behind the champions are the challengers Roma, Lazio and Atalanta - all possessing fine attacking talents of their own.
