The Gunners fell to another loss, their third in four Premier League games leaving them marooned in the bottom half of the table.

Arteta’s side have scored just 10 times in 11 league games so far this season, the lowest of any team outside the relegation zone.

It appears almost certain that Arsenal will be active in the January window, with Arteta desperate to add more creativity to his struggling squad.

And according to the Athletic, Arsenal could get their man for as little as €25million, due to the player’s release clause.

The report suggests that the player must give notice of his intention to leave the Austrian club by December 15, with bids needing to be lodged by December 31.

If the Gunners miss that window, they will need to wait until the summer before it becomes active again at the start of July.

One element that could add further complication to any potential deal is a sell-on clause that would see his current side recoup 20% of whatever fee he is sold for in the future.

That shouldn’t deter Arsenal too much, who will need to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, to land Arteta’s top target.

Szoboszlai has four goals and five assists this season and is widely expected to make a move in the upcoming window.

Last month, Salzburg boss Jesse Marsch admitted that the Hungarian is very likely to leave in January.

“Yes. The reality is that a guy like Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to have many suitors this winter,” Marsch said.

“He’s an incredbile talent, and I say this: When you coach young players, you have to love them and love the fact that they’re going to move on and love that they’re going to have big opportunities to prove themselves and show how good they are.”
