Edge put on a classic clash with Randy Orton at WWE Backlash - almost living up to the hype of 'The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever'.

The two legendary stars, who have 24 world title reigns between them, took their bitter rivalry to the next level in the main event of the show.

The two ring greats traded iconic move after move, Randy pulling out a Pedigree and Edge a Rock Bottom, as they put on a grappling clinic.

At the end of the pay-per-view it was Orton who stood tall, as The Viper triumphed with a trademark RKO, to leave Edge lying on the canvas.

But reports emerging before the pre-recorded contest aired suggested Edge, real name Adam Copeland, 46, had suffered a serious injury.

The Canandia spent nine and a half years away from the ring, having been forced to call time on his career due to serious neck issues.

However, he was medically cleared to compete once again last year and made a triumphant return to action at the Royal Rumble in January.

That was followed by a victory over Orton at WrestleMania 36, but the Rated R-Superstar is now seemingly set for another spell on the sidelines.

According to Fightful.com, and later confirmed by sites including PWInsider.com, the veteran sustained torn triceps during the encounter.

A triceps tear, depending on the severity, could mean that Copeland is out for four to eight months.

The match was taped several weeks ago and there had been an attempt to keep the injury quiet until it could be worked into company storylines.
