Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has landed a Sh90 million sponsorship deal with betting firm Betika.

The deal will see each of the 20 teams in the National Super League (NSL) get Sh750,000 per season and key  football equipment such as balls and nets

Betika will also be the sole and official grassroots football partner for FKF with Sh45 million going directly to financing grassroots football activities across the country.

John Mbatiah, the firm’s Commercial Head said: “This partnership confirms our commitment to investing in the community through sports, arts and culture with football being a key focus.

“Through this, we aim to improve the standards of the game as we nurture talent both at the grassroots and national level.

“We also believe we can influence positive change among the youth through creating an atmosphere of talent and skills development in sports.”

FKF President, Nick Mwendwa, lauded sponsorship that came at a crucial time when the federation was struggling to run the league due to financial constraints.

“Today we mark yet another milestone by launching a partnership for our NSL clubs which we believe will go a long way towards not only easing the clubs’ financial obligations but also increasing the leagues’ monetary incentive,” Mwendwa said.

The betting company recently launched Betika na Community Cup with the first tournament held in Machakos on November 3 with plans to roll out similar community investment programs in all 47 counties.

The 14th round of the Betika NSL game will start on November 13.

Betika also sponsors KPL side Sofapaka.
