Manchester United are on the verge of signing Lyon wonderkid Florent Da Silva, according to L'Equipe.

The French newspaper claims the Red Devils are expected to make an "imminent" bid for the midfielder, who is considered a top-class talent.

The teenager is out of contract next summer and United have shown serious interest in bringing him to Old Trafford, with negotiations between the two clubs said to be at a "very advanced" stage.

Whilst an agreement has not yet been reached, United are attempting to buy out the final year of Da Silva's contract as he considers his options and eyes the "best project" for his future.

The creative midfielder played senior football in the French fourth tier for Lyon's reserves last season and also featured in the UEFA Youth League against Ajax and Barcelona.

Whilst he is yet to train with Lyon's first team, he is considered one of their top talents and the French side remain hopeful of convincing him to stay.

New United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will try to tempt him to join his Old Trafford revolution as he focuses on building with young players for the future.

He has already snapped up Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 21, and Daniel James, 22, as well as targeting 22-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Roma hotshot Nicolo Zainolo, 20, has also been linked as he looks to establish a side with plenty of future potential.

Da Silva is amongst a number of teenagers linked with United in recent weeks, with Monaco teenager Hannibal Mejbri also linked in the past couple of months.

They completed the signing of Amiens winger Noam Emeran in February from France.
