Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is set to take over form under-fire Santiago Solari at Real Madrid.
According to ex-Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon, who spoke to United Kingdom’s news outlet Sky Sports on Wednesday, March 6, Mourinho is the first choice to replace Solari should he be sacked – with initial contact already having been made.
Real embarrassingly exited this season’s Champions League following a 4-1 defeat at home to Dutch side Ajax on Tuesday night, with an aggregate score of 5-2.
In response to the defeat, Real fans made their feelings known by signing Mourinho’s name in the streets of the city, sending a message to the club’s management about who they want to take the club forward.
Mourinho, however, dismissed claims that negotiations with the Spanish outfit have begun and was keen to avoid disrespecting Solari, who is not having the time of his life with Los Blancos.

“There has been nothing, not even the minimum contact. I haven't done that. Like you say, there are rumours. But rumours in football are bad," Mourinho told Spanish news outlet El Chiringuito.
He admitted that he was surprised by Real’s shocking exit at the hands of Ajax, but applauded them for the records they set under departed Zinedine Zidane.
“It was surprising, but I see it with a lot of respect for all they have done before. You can't win four, five, six Champions Leagues in a row. They know that when they have won I have been happy for them, and they know I am not in any way happy about what has happened,” added Mourinho.
