Football Kenya Federation will file a case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in an attempt to overturn the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF’s) decision to reinstate Equatorial Guinea, consequently discarding Harambee Starlets participation at the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Ghana.

According to FKF President Nick Mwendwa, who spoke to a local news outlet, FKF is exploring all legal possibilities to momentarily stop AWCON 2018.

This decision by FKF comes after CAF decided to remove Kenya and replace it with Equatorial Guinea.

Five months ago, Equatorial Guinea beat Harambee Starlets 3-2 on aggregate to qualify for AWCON 2018, but after Kenya filed a protest to CAF seeking to disqualify Nzalang Nacional for fielding an ineligible player and succeeded, they were sadly removed from the showpiece event.

"This is a complete joke," said Mwendwa.

Mwendwa argued Equatorial Guinea was not supposed to produce new papers during appeal since it was not in compliance with the law.

"CAF must include us in the tournament and have nine teams taking part, or we are going to CAS," he concluded.
