Zetech University Ladies yesterday condemned Foot Prints to their second defeat this weekend after they trounced them 56-31 in a Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Premier League match at United States International University of Africa (USIU-A).

Foot Prints, whose chances of qualifying for the playoffs were all but halted, lost to Strathmore University Swords on Saturday.

Foot Prints’ Daisy Ayodi was the undisputed star against Zetech, scoring 19 points but her effort could not salvage vital points for her side.

Deedee Wepe and Maureen Bosibori were top scorers for Zetech with 12 points each, while Fridah Gumba had eight points.

Zetech coach Maurice Obilo said the victory was due to the hard work and commitment of the players.

“We are all working hard for better results and I’m glad our efforts are bearing fruit. The girls are determined to qualify for the playoffs and have been working hard to ensure that we achieve our first goal of the season.”

Zetech made their intention known early in the game as they led 15-8 in the first quarter. They got better in the second to score an impressive 17 points to lead 32-16 at the breather.

On resumption, they played to a 9-9 draw in the third quarter before sealing a 16-6 victory in the final quarter.

In another Premier League encounter, Strathmore University Swords thrashed Foot Prints 56-14 to remain on course to sealing a playoffs slot.

The Swords capitalised on Foot Prints' inability to settle in the game and duly punished them.
