Kenya Commercial Bank continued their dominance over Kabras Sugar after beating the millers 29-24 to retain the Kenya Cup title at KCB Sports Club, yesterday.

This was the third final victory for the bankers against Kabras since the latter were promoted to the Kenya Cup League in 2014.

Tries from Brian Nyikuli, Peter Kilonzo, Jacob Ojee and Martin Owila is all that Curtis Olago’s men needed to lift their sixth title.

A resilient Kabras got their tries through Johnstone Mung’au, Asuman Mugerwa, Coleman Were and Phillip Wokorach, who also scored two penalties. Kabras suffered an early setback when Mugerwa was sin-binned.

The bankers immediately capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Nyikuli scoring a converted try for a 7-0 lead.

However, moments later, the millers got a penalty that was well drilled over by Wakorach to make the scores 7-3 before Mung’au’s unconverted try handed the visitors a 8-7 lead.

Mugerwa would land a second try for Kabras, but the bankers regained the lead through Kilonzo’s converted try. Ojee landed at the corner to see KCB lead 19-13 at the break.
