Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan has been sentenced to a 12-month community order which will include 15 rehabilitation activity days, 40 hours of unpaid work, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge for assaulting his girlfriend, Ms. Rachael Wall on Duke Street in Liverpool city Centre at around 3.20am on Friday, December 22, the day Liverpool played their 3-3 draw with Arsenal at The Emirates.

On 2 January 2018, the court adjourned the case to today January 17, where Flanagan was sentenced by District Judge Wendy Lloyd who said she had been given a breakdown of CCTV of the incident, which showed Flanagan assaulting his partner on several occasions and kicking her at one point.

"You are, of course, a young man of previous good character, and therefore it's undoubtedly sad that you have brought yourself here by your behavior." Said Lloyd on ESPN.

The 25-year-old Liverpool born player made his debut for Liverpool at the age of 18 and has only played once for the club this season and spent the whole of last season on loan at Burnley after a 20-month injury lay off.
