President Kimbrow Foundation (PKF) smashed Kayole Starlets 3-0 in a Group B fixture as the third edition of Dada Football Tournament kicked off yesterday at Camp Toyoyo Grounds.

Two-time champions and defending champions Otto Benecker picked easy points in another match after they were awarded a walkover when their opponents Beijing Raiders failed to show up for the opening Group A fixture.

In another match, last year’s finalists Kujibamba defeated Kibira Girls Soccer Academy 1-0 in Group C match. St Ann’s forced a 1-1 draw against Amani Queens in another match of the day.

Otto Benecker were scheduled to play their second match of the tournament yesterday evening against JUTAM.

The tournament, which has attracted 12 teams, is used to create a platform and opportunities for women to showcase and expose their talents, campaign against inequality and create a network that will enforce social interaction.

Dorine Nabwire, one of the organisers and a former Kenyan International, said the tournament served as a platform for girls and women to showcase their talents.

“We are pleased to host the third edition of this tournament. It’s highly motivating to see teams turn out and battle it against each other. We need more time for our girls to play football. We want to keep them busy this holiday as they interact, share and exchange ideas apart from having fun.

“We will start the African Women Cup of Nations qualifiers early next year and this tournament will help the girls work on their fitness ahead of the preparations,” said Nabwire.
