Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola is planning to field his goalkeeper Moraes Ederson in the middle of the pitch, when the league leaders face Leicester City in the quarter final of the league cup, British media reveals.
Guardiola is said to have sanctioned the decision after watching the ball distribution of the 24-year-old Brazilian keeper against Tottenham Hotspurs in a premier league match, which they won 4-1.
British media indicated that Ederson made more passes than Tottenham stars Delle Alli and Christian Eriksen despite playing as the very last man in their own half in the pitch.
Manchester City Spokesman Lee Satchell while speaking to the media revealed that the Spanish coach does not have any option but to grant the player his wish when they lock horns with the Foxes at King Power Stadium tonight.
“He’s threatened to start shooting from goal kicks if he wasn’t given a chance to show what he could do,” Said Satchell. He added with a joke that the Brazilian has gained fame among his teammates who now refer to him as the ‘Paul Scholes’ of Manchester City.

Ederson is said to be eyeing a slot in midfield when Brazil proceed to the world cup. His decision is viewed to be based on the fact that Samba boys are missing key figures in the area of defensive midfield.
He has conceded having played outfield in the past games and he remains upbeat about getting such chances in the future.
“When I started my career, I was actually a left-back and I do have some qualities playing with my feet, so I think that helps a lot, especially due to the way we play at City.” Said Ederson while speaking to City TV.
