Kakamega County government has announced sponsorship for Sportpesa premier league team Kakamega Homeboyz.

The team which finished fifth last season will be fully sponsored by the county government during the next season slated to start on February 2, 2018.

Governor Wycliffe Oparanya confirmed the sponsorship saying it is one way of promoting sports and talent in the county.

“Starting next season, the county government will sponsor Kakamega Homeboyz as a county team due to its good performance in the league,” Oparanya said after witnessing CECAFA match between Uganda and Burundi at Bukhungu stadium.

He also revealed that the team will be using Bukhungu stadium as its home ground. [Alex Wakhisi]
