FIFA Ranking: Huge drop for Harambee Stars

Kenya’s downward trajectory continues according to the latest standings released by the world football governing body, FIFA.

Benjamin Okumbi’s side has slumped to position102 globally, down 14 spots.

This can be accredited to Star’s miserable performance during the international break where they lost away to Iraq and Thailand on October 5 and 8 respectively.

Iraqi’s 2-1 win over the local boys have propelled the Asian outfit to 80th up 8 positions.

Neigbours Uganda have climbed a slot to lie 70th globally.

Kenya who lost CHAN hosting rights to Morocco, are waiting for CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup tournament in November and December 2017,  before playing Ghana next year in a bid to qualify for AFCON 2019.

Egypt who qualified for next year’s World Cup for the first time in 27 years, are trailing Tunisia in the second place in Africa.

Senegal and Congo DR take third and fourth places respectively.

Another Russia 2018 ticket holder, Super Eagles of Nigeria, are 41st globally and fifth on the continent.

Globally the table has remained untouched, with Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium and Poland holding the top six positions.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 23 November 2017.
