Arthur Muchiri posted a solid score of 40 stableford points to triumph during the Panari hotels-sponsored Clubnite played at the par 71, Nyeri Golf Club last Friday.

Muchiri, playing off handicap 12, posted 22 stableford points on the outward nine and summed it up with 18 stableford points on the inward nine to prevail over the 47 golfers from various clubs who participated in the day-long tournament.

“On how and why I won, I simply attribute my win to a clear mindset. I had a few challenges with my driver but along the way, one of the guys in my four-ball corrected a fault with my driver address which ultimately paid off as I kept my head down and rest flowed,” said Muchuri.

Father Richard Kabuthi, playing off handicap 23, took the second prize on a score of 37 stableford points.

Club handicap manager Mercy Mburu, playing off handicapp 20, donned the ladies medal on a score of 34 (16+18) stableford points as Nyeri club lady captain Jennifer Kariuki settled for the second prize on a score of 32 (14+18) stableford points.

Jane Munyori, playing off handicap 20, won the first nine with 19 stableford points as Thika Sports Club’d Anthony Muriuki, playing off handicap 13, was the second nine winner with 18 stableford points.

Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe, who graced the presentation dinner, announced that Nyeri club would host one of the four Igathe golf tournaments before year end.

Igathe, who was accompanied by Kirinyaga Senator Charles Kibiru and former club chairman Dan Wamahiu, gave Sh50,000 for the clubnite presentation dinner drinks and another Sh50,000 for the clergy golf to be played today at the Nyeri club.
