Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Mombasa sub-branch has urged the national government to work closely with county governments to improve football facilities.

The sub-branch chairman, Juma Goshi, said Kenya was denied the chance of hosting a big event due to poor state of stadiums earmarked to host the event in January.

“FKF did its best but circumstances denied us the opportunity to host the continental event, which comes second in pecking order after Africa Cup of Nations,” said Goshi.

He said it was high time national and county governments carried out major development of facilities to enable them bid again in the future,” said Goshi. [Ernest Ndunda]
