AFC Leopards’ only hope for silverware this season remains the GOtv Shield and the team will be hoping to edge out Vihiga United in the second semi-final match tomorrow.

Leopards have already been through three coaches and a high turnover of key players.

Current coach Robert Matano has managed to bring a semblance in his squad and with it some positive results.

On Wednesday, Leopards edged out Thika United 2-0 in a mid week KPL tie leaving Matano confident of sending his side to the Shield final.

“It was an important win for us and we believe it shall motivate us to a top eight finish. As for Sunday’s match, we will not underrate our opponents simply because they are in the lower league. It is an important match,” he said.

Leopards last won the shield in 2013 and reaching this year’s final will be the farthest they will have come since then.

Vihiga United will be no push-overs. The team is currently riding high in the National Super League and have the ability to stop Leopards in their tracks. They upset defending champions Tusker in the quarter final. Furthermore, the team has been beefed up with the signing of a number of experienced players like Charles Okwemba.

The first semi-final match will see Kariobangi Sharks take on Sony Sugar at noon.
