Cavani and Neymar had bust-up after dispute over who should take penalty

Neymar has ‘demanded Paris Saint-Germain sell Edinson Cavani’ after the two South American stars clashed over taking a penalty.

The Brazilian and the Uruguayan had to be separated in the dressing room following Sunday’s heated victory over Lyon.

And now, according to Spanish outlet ="http://www.sport.es/es/noticias/liga-francia/neymar-exige-psg-traspaso-cavani-6295417">Sport.< the world’s most expensive player has told chairman Nasser Al-Khalifi that the relationship is “broken” and playing together is “totally impossible”.

It is believed Neymar wants top-scorer Cavani offloaded in January.

The flashpoint came in the 79th minute, when Kylian Mbappe won a penalty. Neymar wanted to have the kick instead of regular-taker Cavani.

The Uruguayan, who had earlier been involved in a squabble with Dani Alves over taking a free-kick before the Brazilian handed the ball to Neymar, stuck to his guns, attempted the spot-kick — and saw it saved.

Cavani confronted the £199million star after the match and team-mates Thiago Motta and Marquinhos had to step in to keep them apart.

The clash of egos has overshadowed PSG winning their first eight games of the season in all competitions with the two most expensive players in the world.

Cavani, who scored 49 goals last season, only touched the ball 20 times against Lyon — and did not pass to Neymar once.

The former Barcelona star only passed it twice to Cavani, but has struck up a telepathic understanding with Mbappe.

Cavani is reported to have a €1m bonus in his new contract if he finishes top scorer in Ligue 1 this season.

The Uruguayan had to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and is now understood to resent summer arrivals Neymar and Alves instantly taking over the dressing room.

France 98 World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry, who spent a season at Birmingham, said: “Cavani has been there for four years — he is not the type to make life difficult. You have to respect the senior players.

"Neymar is a great player. He will be the boss of PSG. But he will not be because he is worth £199m, but because he has won things with PSG.

"Coach Unai Emery must step in. Soon, Neymar is going to be taking training and picking the team.”
