Athletic Bilbao 2-0 Girona FC: Olunga fails to feature in his new club's line up

The wait to see Kenyan striker Michael 'Engineer' Olunga playing for his new club Girona FC in La Liga continued after the 23-year-old striker failed to make an appearance.

Despite being in the lineup as a substitute during their 2-0 away defeat by Athletic Bilbao at San Mames Barria on Sunday, Olunga was left out of the game where Iker Muniain opened scoring for Athletic Bilbao after 25 minutes of the game.

Aritz Aduriz scored the second goal for Athletic Bilbao about 53 minutes later.

Athletic Bilbao  manager Jose Angel Ziganda made three substitutions, that is Ander Iturraspe, Ager Aketxe and Sabin Merino while Girona ‘s boss Pablo Machin also used three substitutions that is Olarenwaju Kayode, Johan Mojica and  Douglas Soares .

Ball possession was dominated by Girona FC with 52% and Athletic Bilbao controlling 48%.

Athletic Bilbao created eight shots, six shots on target and two shots off target.

Girona did 11 shots, eight shots on target and three shots off target.

The 23-year-old completed his season-long loan deal to the La Liga’s newcomers from Chinese Super League side Guizhou Zhicheng just hours before the closure of the Spanish transfer window on this month.
