Bandari, Wazito through to last eight of GOtv Shield

Bandari edged out Nakumatt 3-2 to make it to the last eight of the GOtv Shield tournament at Mbaraki Sports Club yesterday.

Anthony Wambani headed Noah Abich’s free kick to give the dockers the lead in the 11th minute.

Bandari were two up in the 26th minute courtesy of Hassan Abdalla. Kepha Aswani formerly of Bandari returned to score for Nakumatt after beating defender Felly Mulumba before blasting the ball into the net in the 29th minute.

Nakumatt came back more organised in the second half and Boniface Akenga pulled his team level in the 56th minute

Abich scored a penalty for Bandari on the 90th minute after David Naftali handled the ball in the box off Jacob Keli’s powerful shot.

Wazito also made it to the last eight after sending out GFE 105 with a 2-0 win in a match played in Eldoret.

Elsewhere, the national Under-20 women team thrashed Botswana 7-1 in their opening match of the World Cup qualifiers on Friday.
