Ramisi Secondary School are full of confidence ahead of their debut in next week’s national secondary schools Term Two B Games in Nyeri.

“We are ready to rock Nyeri when the games start next week and make history. We want to be the first boys’ football team from Kwale County to win the national title,” said team coach Amin “Maradona” Fumbi.

“We might not be the best, but we are going to be competitive and make our presence felt,” he added.

The coach said his players were full of confidence that would guide them to the final. The title has proved elusive for many Coast teams.

Ramisi, which is situated in Msambweni constituency and has about 400 students, stunned former national silver medallists Tononoka of Mombasa 2-0 in the Coast Region final two weeks ago.

Four players

Fumbi said four players on his team were in the Under-16s squad that made it to the semi-finals of the national Term Two A Games at Shanzu Teachers Training College in Mombasa.

“We started training vigorously last September when I was appointed the coach and I need to confirm that the boys have bonded well,” said the coach, who featured for Administration Police FC.

“We train twice a day and use our afternoon sessions to focus on endurance along the Indian Ocean,” he said. “A boxer’s career is to fight and our focus is to fight for the national title now that we have the chance.”

Fumbi said winning the Coast Region title boosted the players’ morale and they were looking forward to the national games.

“We are in a tough group, but we are ready,” he said.
