Masai just can’t stop winning

Nyali golf and Country Club’s Lady Captain Joyce Masai is among top golfers from the Coast Region and takes her sport seriously.
She is faithful to her gym timetable, which keeps her in top shape. Her training schedule sees her train every morning, if only to remain among the best.
To her, winning has been a way of life. She does it as she pleases. It is as easy as always. One of her victory includes the 2017 Medal Prize title in January and the 2016 Club’s Lady Captain (Teresia Odoo) Prize.
She also won the 2016 Kenya Power Golf Tournament at Nyali Club last September. That has been Masai's way of doing things. And last weekend, she used her course skills to beat a field of 115 golfers to win the 2017 Hackers golf tournament at the par 71 Nyali golf and Country Club.
Playing off handicap 12, Masai had an excellent 42 stableford points to claim the title in the one-day 18-hole stableford tournament.
Masai had a good start, sinking a rare birdie at the par five-first hole, then added nine level pars.
She rounded up the rest of the back and front nines with mixed bogey shots, but in the end, her name was top in the day’s leader board.
“I was delighted to have a birdie at the first hole. This was my first birdie since I started playing golf six years ago. I was motivated to play a composed game and I am happy it brought some good results,” said Masai.
Club mate Daniel Nduva, playing off handicap 00, was the runner-up on a countback score of 38 points, same as third-placed handicap 24 Saeed Murtaza.
Meanwhile, Thika's handicap 5 Anthony Mwaura won the 2017 Detour golf Challenge.
