Holders, Zone A side Thika Queens will face off Zone B leaders Vihiga Queens in the 2016 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women Premier League playoff that is set for February 4 at Afraha Stadium.

The playoff had been earlier planned for January 29 at Kasarani Stadium, a match that was to act as a curtain raiser for the DSTV Super Cup match pitting reigning domestic champions Gor Mahia and Tusker to be held at the same venue.

It was not clear who was to take part in the playoff in Zone B citing match fixing allegations in a match pitting Oserian Ladies and Eldoret Falcons where the former won 8-0.

According to FKF Leagues and Competitions chairman David Gikaria, Vihiga Queens will play Thika Queens in the playoff finals while Oserian Ladies will face off Spedag FC in the third place playoff.

"We have suspended the match between Oserian Ladies and Eldoret Falcons this comes after someone from the federation went ahead to change the date of the fixture. Initially, the final fixture of Zone B was scheduled to be played at the same day, same time and different venues.

"We are professionals and things must be done professionally. Oserian Ladies match was played on Sunday whereas the Vihiga Queens match was played on Saturday. We want to know who made the changes and we want the referee's committee to explain who called the referees to change the match because referees are appointment and match date sent," he said.

The defending champions, Thika Queens finished top of Zone A unbeaten with 32 points ahead of last year’s runner’s up Spedag who had 29 points.

Following the suspension of Oserian Ladies match, Vihiga Queens finished top of Zone B with 31 points ahead of the Naivasha-based side who managed 28 points.

Commenting on change of playoff date, Gikaria said they did not want to get involved in other competitions.

"This is a different competition and we don't want to get into other competitions. We will play in Nakuru," he said.

Meanwhile Thika Queens commenced training at BAT Grounds in Thika yesterday in preparation for the playoff.
