Rachier faces stern test in Gor polls today

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier faces his toughest test as the club goes for elections today.
Rachier (pictured right) has been at the helm for eight years during which time the club has won three Kenyan Premier League titles.
Apart from that the club has also acquired two shirt sponsors. But Rachier is yet to fulfill a number of promises he made when he was elected.
This is what his challengers Dan Okech and Chris Omondi are hoping to use to dislodge the veteran lawyer.
Rachier promised a stadium for the club, but he is yet to do that and Gor Mahia continues to train in different locations. Gate collections continue to be unaccounted for.

The elections have not been without some controversy.
The previous electoral board resigned following threats.
The new board reduced the number of registered voters from 4,800 to 3,000 something that did not go down well with some contenders.
Oketch termed the decision to reduce the number of voters as unfair and unwarranted.
He said the election will not be credible since many genuine voters will be locked out.
But board chairman Patrick Lumumba said the decision was unanimously agreed upon by the candidates and dismissed those making wild allegations as insincere since they were sensing defeat.
“We took the decision after conducting a comprehensive process verification that revealed many discrepancies with the original identification cards with some bearing missing names and photos,” he said.
